The current situation and implementation of color management in printing enterprises

color management is one of the most popular words in the printing industry, especially before printing. Color management refers to the precise control and management of color transmission in the production process to achieve a perfect color reproduction effect

I. Analysis of the current situation of color management in printing enterprises

now, printing houses basically believe that color management is a matter before printing, which has little to do with the printing part. In fact, in order to achieve real data-based and standardized production, printing must be included in the scope of color management. If only the pre press color management is implemented, it is of little significance to the actual production of the printing factory. The quality of printed matter depends on the final result of printing. If printing is missing, there is also no way to fundamentally ensure the quality of products, let alone stable quality

at present, many manufacturers, especially large and medium-sized printing plants, have basically implemented color management in the prepress part, but the quality problems of products have not been well solved, especially in the aspect of color repeatability, which is basically no different from small factories that have not done the hydraulic universal experimental mechanism of color tubes. Whether the colors can be consistent or not depends on the skill of the operator. Let's take an example to illustrate. For example, customer a produced a promotional leaflet at the beginning of the year. Six months later, he will produce the same leaflet again. Although the film used is the same, the printing conditions are the same, the printing machine is the same machine, and the ink is also the same brand of ink, but in order to make the color of the single produced now consistent with the original single produced, they still spent a lot of effort to basically meet the requirements. At this time, we can't help asking, haven't they implemented prepress color management? Why would this happen? This is because they did not do color management for the printing part, that is, the printing machine did not do data management, resulting in the lack of debugging standards for the printing machine, making it difficult to achieve a consistent production state. That is, the best field density, the expansion rate of points is no longer the same

so far, many printing houses believe that it is impossible or difficult to implement color management for printing, which is obviously wrong. We can take a look at the developed countries in Europe and the United States. They have implemented color management in the whole production process, and all links have achieved digital production. The operator of their printing machine can wear a suit and tie to work, and his whole body is clean. It seems that it is not impossible to implement, but the wrong view that we did not implement at all

II. Implementation of color management in printing enterprises

the implementation process of color management in the production process can be divided into three independent and interrelated parts: prepress, plate making and printing by using the black box principle. Note: prepress includes image processing and film output; Plate making refers to the processing of PS plates, including plate printing, development, etc.: as shown in the figure below:

although the production process can be artificially divided into three parts, they are not isolated, and they are inseparable. Then how to implement the color management impact testing machine, which is divided into manual pendulum impact testing machine, semi-automatic impact testing machine, digital display impact testing machine, microcomputer controlled impact testing machine, drop hammer impact testing machine and non-metallic impact testing machine? We know that the judgment of printing quality is actually the judgment of color restoration. Whether the correct restoration of color is ultimately reflected in the printed matter, then, do we do it from the printing part? No, color management should be implemented as follows:

1 The real rubber fatigue testing machine of the plate making part has these remarkable characteristics, because the plate making part is very independent, without considering the prepress part and the printing part. What we need to do is also very simple, that is to determine the printing time and development time. Professional test strips (such as Bruner test strip) can be used to print on the plate, and then use the test strip and plate densitometer to determine the best print time and development time. Ensure that 3% of the dots on the PS version are aligned, 97% of the dots are small and white holes are not stuck, and the resolution line is 0.008mm incomplete
