The current situation and future of China's metal packaging industry

1 industry development overview

There are also 1 ~ 18L chemical barrels made of sheet metal and 20 ~ 200L steel barrels made of cold rolled sheet and zinc sheet. metal packaging is an important part of China's urban industry. It has become an irreplaceable traditional packaging method because of its unique reinforcement, sealing and preservation, and metal decoration charm. Its output value accounts for about 10% of the total output value of China's packaging industry, mainly providing supporting services for food, canned goods, beverages, fats, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, export gift packaging and other industries

after the establishment of China Packaging Technology Association in 1980, the metal packaging container committee was established, and a series of work such as industrial information exchange and technical training were carried out, which effectively promoted the development of the metal packaging industry. By the early 1990s, the metal packaging industry had entered a high-speed development with the reform and opening up. During this period, there were more than 700 metal packaging enterprises in the country. Packaging enterprises in the United States, Japan, South Korea, as well as foreign-invested enterprises in Taiwan and Hong Kong have entered the field of metal packaging. In 1998, the number of registered enterprises soared to 1280. According to incomplete statistics, the total output of metal packaging in China reached 1.7 million tons in 2000, with a total output value of 17.6 billion yuan. In 2002, the total output was 2.19 million tons (including steel barrels), and the total industrial output value was 19.7 billion yuan. The rapid development in the 1990s also brought blind investment and repeated construction. In the past three years, due to the macro imbalance, low-level repeated investment and introduction, the general popular products of metal packaging have serious overcapacity, the fight for low prices has intensified, and the industry profits have shrunk. Shanghai jiaduobao, Guangzhou Meite and Tianjin Meite have been closed successively, and the three piece cans of American Bohr group have withdrawn from the Chinese market, and the industry development once entered a downturn. Since last year, metal packaging has recovered again, and a number of strong leading enterprises with an annual production and sales scale of more than 100 million yuan, or even more than 500 million yuan, have begun to gradually embark on the path of healthy development

2 market scale and structure

2.1 the total amount and scale of China's metal packaging market. After a temporary decline in the middle and late 1990s, the overall market size has achieved stable growth. The entire market capacity has increased with the growth of the national economy, the improvement of living standards, and the increasingly mature development of metal packaging technology

2.2 the main variety structure and regional distribution of metal packaging in China

1) iron printing market

2) two piece can market (including aluminum and steel) China's aluminum two-piece can started in 1979. After 1983, China has introduced L4 two-piece production lines from the United States, Italy and Japan. In the 1990s, the homogenization of universal testing machines was serious, and improving product quality was the key era. After that, it carried out production technology transformation and introduced high-speed production lines. At present, China has 23 aluminum two-piece can factories, and 26 high-speed production lines (1000-1800 cans per minute) with an annual production capacity of 12billion cans. In the long run, China's per capita consumption is only 4.6 cans, which cannot be compared with 380 cans per capita in the United States, and the market potential is great. However, in the near future, the market demand is only 7.4 billion cans, which is not much different from 5 cans per capita in Southeast Asia, and the development space is limited

The predicted output at the end of the fifteenth Five Year Plan period is 9.6 billion cans, an increase of 60% over the end of the Ninth Five Year Plan period. It is expected to reach 11.5 billion cans by 2010

3) three piece can market (fruit juice beverage, canned food)

China's three piece can of beverage and food is the main market of metal tinplate packaging. Three piece cans of drinks mainly refer to juice cans without gas (coconut milk, almond juice, milk, eight treasure porridge, etc.); Canned food mainly refers to the packaging of agricultural and sideline products, such as mushrooms, asparagus, citrus, poached asparagus, lunch meat, tuna, ketchup, etc. Metal packaging has long been a supporting industry for export cans and domestic fruit juice packaging. At present, the country has more than 300 imported production lines of three cans, 40% of which are 800-1200 cans per minute, and the rest are medium and low-speed production lines, with an average of 400 cans per minute. The total annual production capacity has reached 23billion cans. However, the actual consumption demand in 2000 was only 7billion cans, with 3.5 billion cans exported and 4billion cans of beverages. Although China's per capita consumption is still far lower than that of developed countries, it is still difficult to produce drinks with certain corrosion resistance due to the constraints of living habits, consumption levels, the formation of stable and popular famous brands, as well as the corresponding manufacturing technology and capital. Only neutral products such as Babao porridge, coconut milk and almond juice can be produced. Three piece cans have not launched more fashionable, more convenient and lighter successor products, which limits their development

4) aerosol tank Market

after 20 years of development, aerosol tanks in China have begun to take shape. Aerosol technology has been widely used in the fields of sanitation, pest control, chemical industry and cosmetics. Since the 1990s, stimulated by the rapid development of beer and various beverage industries, bottle cap factories have introduced a large number of bottle cap production lines. At present, China has nearly 200 imported stamping production lines, with speeds ranging from 110000, 140000 and 270000 per hour. The annual production capacity of all kinds of bottle caps is more than 70billion, while the actual consumption of beer is less than 30billion and beverages are 5billion, with supply exceeding demand. In the field of tinplate bottle cap Market, Wuxi huapengjia Duobao bottle cap Co., Ltd., Shanghai Ziquan Packaging Co., Ltd. and Shandong Lipeng Packaging Co., Ltd. are leading enterprises in the capping industry.
